Our season of Equus is being postponed due to the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
Due to the uncertainty around when COVID-19 lockdown levels will be relaxed, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our season of ‘Equus’.
‘Equus’ will now open on Friday the 5th of November, and conclude on Saturday the 13th.
We felt that even with restricted audience numbers, this would hinder the atmosphere in a way that wouldn’t be representative of the experience we wanted to achieve for patrons. It’s important to us that local bars and restaurants are operating at full capacity so that they can be patronised before and after the play. We’ve worked tirelessly to bring this production to you – and we want to do it justice.
Existing tickets will be honoured for the new show dates to be held at the MTG Century Theatre.
For current ticket holders who are unable to attend their rescheduled show, refunds are also available through Ticketek. You will receive an email from Ticketek regarding this.
We’re incredibly excited to be able to present this work to not only the local community, but those who are travelling from beyond. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved, and can’t wait to show you when the time is right.
Take care, and we’ll see you when we’ve stopped the spread.
THE TONY AWARDS® WINNING PLAY IS BACK
“A GALVANIZING PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER”
‘Equus’ is a psychological drama about Dr. Martin Dysart (Daric Moore), a psychiatrist who has grown unhappy with his life, encouraged to take on a peculiar case by a magistrate, Hesther Salomon (Natalie Sandbrook). This involves Alan Strang (Samuel Draper), a reserved teenager who has been accused of brutally blinding six horses. Dysart slowly unravels Alan’s background, learning that he grew up in a strained household with a devoutly religious mother (Carol Williams) and an atheist father (Rob Dallas). But as Dysart begins to trace the roots of Alan’s problems, his own also begin to surface.
‘Equus’ will be performed at the MTG Century Theatre, and is the inaugural Napier Theatre Company production.
